Coronavirus: 233 new cases and 1 new death reported in Orange County on Nov. 1

The Orange County Health Care Agency provides a daily update of testing results, deaths and other related metrics used to monitor the impact and spread of the coronavirus.

Here is a snapshot of the information provided Sunday, Nov. 1, on its website.

New cases reported: 233

Cumulative cases: 60,115

  • 2,359 were skilled nursing facility residents
  • 575 were inmates in county jails
  • 192 were homeless people

New deaths reported: 1

Cumulative deaths: 1,484

  • 678 were residents of skilled nursing or assisted living facilities
  • 5 were homeless people

Estimated recovered: 53,462

Hospitalizations: 181

Patients in ICUs: 55

New tests conducted: 9,193

Cumulative tests: 1,118,493

Data posted each day is preliminary and subject to change, officials emphasize. More information may become available as individual case investigations are completed. Also, the data on deaths in the county is compiled from death certificates or gathered through the course of case investigations and can take weeks to process, officials say.

It can come when we least expect it, when we are happily playing our favorite game and diligently working on the report due tomorrow. Then, all of a sudden, when we are just right about to save our progress, the blue demon appears, stares at you straight in the face and tells you that some sort of fatal, non-recoverable error has occur. Mountain High to open Saturday, Nov. 14, for pass holders, followed by Snow Valley Monday

After a short delay this week following four employees who tested positive for coronavirus , Mountain High announced it will open on Saturday, Nov. 14, for season pass holders. The Wrightwood resort will sell tickets to the general public on Sunday, Nov. 15, according to the website. Tickets must be purchased 24 hours in advance. Amenities will be limited on opening weekend, including no lessons or rentals and limited food and beverage, though people can bring their own snacks onto the mountain. “It’s going to be a beautiful weekend so come enjoy your lunch on the sun deck. Indoor access will be limited,” the announcement said. “Guests should be prepared to enjoy an outdoor experience this winter, no matter the conditions.
