Pedestrian killed in Huntington Beach traffic collision

A man was struck and killed in a traffic collision on Sunday evening in Huntington Beach.

Officers shortly before 6:30 p.m. responded to reports of a collision at the Brookhurst Street and Hamilton Avenue intersection, according to a Huntington Beach Police Department statement.

Based on their preliminary investigation, police believe the man, a transient, was crossing southbound on Brookhurst, against a traffic signal, when he was struck by a Chrysler Sebring traveling eastbound on Hamilton.

The man was taken to a hospital, police said, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities have not released his name.

The driver, a Laguna Woods woman, remained at the scene, according to police, and was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI.

Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it to contact them at 714-536-5670.

Mountain High to open Saturday, Nov. 14, for pass holders, followed by Snow Valley Monday

After a short delay this week following four employees who tested positive for coronavirus , Mountain High announced it will open on Saturday, Nov. 14, for season pass holders. The Wrightwood resort will sell tickets to the general public on Sunday, Nov. 15, according to the website. Tickets must be purchased 24 hours in advance.
